Marion Tidwell Horton thread from Rootsweb

I stumbled onto this today. May be old news to those of you who have been actively searching records, but I thought I'd post it in case you didn't. Coincidentally, the author of the post is named Linda, but I don't remember ever seeing this email address from our Linda. So, probably a coincidence.

Found this here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/HORTON

I have a William Horton, son of Stephen Horton [1758-May 4, 1815-Died in
Baldwin County Georgia]. Stephen's oldest child, Alfred G. Horton was born
1803 [place uncertain] . Stephen's will is was witnessed by a William
Horton, identity unknown. Every one of Stephen's sons for whom I have male
children in my data, named a son William. The family moved
Georgia>Alabama>Holmes County, Mississippi>Texas.

Alfred G. Horton had a son William H. Horton, born November 24, 1832. I am
not certain, but this William may have been born in Alabama.

Alfred G. Horton's brother was Stephen Marion Horton. Stephen Marion Horton
had a son William J. Horton, b abt 1841.

No Marion Tidwell Horton, but some commonality of names and locations.

Linda

We are descended from Marion Tidwell Horton and his first wife Mary Elizabeth Roe. But Mary Elizabeth died July 17, 1899 and Marion remarried (somewhere I think I have his second wife's name).
This is consisent with two property deeds that I found in the Commanche County courthouse.
Marion bought 80.75 acres on November 1, 1899. See that only his name is on the deed: M. T. Horton (no wife):

When  he sold the land December 5, 1900, his new wife is included as a grantor (but only by her initials "M. A"):
